What it cannot tell you
Read this before you make a decision on a number from this site.
A rank tracker that does not say where it is unreliable is worse than no rank tracker, because you will act on it anyway.
This is not the position your buyer sees
Etsy personalises search. Two shoppers typing the same words get different orders, shaped by location, history, and whatever Etsy is testing that week. tagcheck sees one unpersonalised view through the API. Treat a position as a direction — roughly where you sit in the field — and never as the exact slot a particular customer sees.
The API's ordering is not guaranteed to be the site's
The public search endpoint and the etsy.com search page are not promised to rank identically, and neither is documented as stable. Movements are still meaningful — if you drop forty places in the API, something changed — but do not expect the number to match what you see when you search on the website yourself.
It cannot tell you why
It knows position, not cause. A drop can be your listing ageing, a competitor arriving, Etsy's ranking changing, or seasonality. tagcheck will never claim to know which, and any tool that does is guessing at you confidently.
It cannot see anything private about your shop
No orders, no views, no conversion rate, no draft listings. It has no connection to your Etsy account at all and never asks for one. If you want to correlate rank with sales, that correlation has to happen in your head or your spreadsheet, not here.
Once a day, and only 250 deep
A position can move and come back between two checks and you will never know. And anything below 250 is reported as "not found" rather than a number, because a precise number down there would be false comfort.
A phrase nobody types is worth nothing at #1
tagcheck has no search-volume data — Etsy does not publish any through this API. Ranking first for a phrase no shopper uses looks like a win on this board and is not one. Choosing phrases worth tracking is still your job.
