It says my listing is not found, but I can see it on Etsy

"Not found" means it was not in the first 250 results for that exact phrase — not that the listing is gone. When you search on etsy.com yourself, Etsy personalises the results for you, and your own listings can appear higher for you than for anyone else. Try a longer, more specific phrase; that is usually where a small shop is actually findable.

The number here does not match what I see when I search

Expected. Etsy's search page and its API are not promised to rank identically, and the page is personalised while the API view is not. Use the movement, not the exact digit — more on that here.

The position moved but I got no mail

Small moves are deliberately not sent, and "small" depends on where you are. Crossing one of the four lines — first screen, first page, found, gone — is mailed. Moving within a band takes half the distance to your position: four places at #8, twenty at #40, ninety at #180. Eighteen places at #66 is not mailed, because #66 and #84 ask the same thing of you. Disappearing from the results is always mailed. The same position is never mailed about twice in a row either. Check that mail is on, under Account.

Can I track a phrase for a listing that is not mine?

Technically yes — everything here is public search data. But the tool is built for watching your own listings, the mail is written that way, and the 25-phrase limit is sized for one seller's shop rather than a competitive survey.

Why only once a day?

Finding one listing can take three searches, and Etsy's ranking does not change quickly enough to be worth more. Once a day per phrase is enough to catch a real move within a day and keeps API usage proportional. There is a "re-check every phrase" button under Account when you want an answer immediately.

Do I need to connect my Etsy shop?

No, and there is no way to. tagcheck never asks for Etsy authorisation and holds no token for your account. Signing in with Google gives it your email address; everything else comes from the same public search a shopper sees.

How do I stop everything?

Account → Close and erase. Immediate, and it takes the tracked phrases with it. To keep the board but stop the mail, turn mail off on the same page.
